Asking Maggie what her favorite movie is is like asking a parent which is her favorite child. Here are a few of my favorites, but it really depends on my mood.

1. Stage Door. I think it will always be my all-time favorite.

2. The Awful Truth. Probably the best comedy ever made. Irene's giggle is so infectious!

3. The Philadelphia Story. Seamless plot, hilarious, wonderful job by all of the actors, and the perfect ending. That's what I like about all three of these movies. They're seamless: not a slow second, they flow perfectly. Perhaps it's because all three came from the stage.
There are no good embeddable videos for this movie, so you'll just have to go and watch it all. There.

  1. For someone who didn't drink Ginger was WAY too good at playing drunk!

  2. Her 'Carefree' scenes are classic, even tho not 'drunk', just 'loopy', which is kinda one in the same, I guess...maybe it's harder to act drunk if you really drink, since you keep wondering, "...now how do I act when I'm drunk?" ...or does that make no sense whatsoever?

Maggie - great choices! I guess I am going to have to break down and buy 'The Awful Truth'...can't get it on 'Gorg'... should be worth a few bucks... well, I COULD wait for TCM to show it... probably the best move.

  3. Buy it! It's totally worth it. I downloaded it from BitTorrent I believe. It's also at most libraries, so you could pick it up there and give it a test run before you buy. But seriously, it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

  4. hi Maggie , I recently viewed Stage Door for the first time. It was a classic. I loved the bantering between Kate and Ginger. I guess it was also going on behind the scenes and they battled for the crown of Queen of the RKO lot. thanks
